How to play

Everything you need to know. It takes about two minutes.

Every weekend in November, the world’s top 12 rugby nations play six Tests. Pick four of them against the handicap, back one as your Best Bet, and climb the leaderboard.

Our game covers the November part of the competition: Rounds 4, 5 and 6, then Finals Weekend.

The handicap

Bookmakers give the weaker team a head start in points. That head start is the handicap, and it’s shown on every game, for example Ireland −8.5 v Argentina +8.5.

Your pick is correct if your team wins once the handicap is applied.

Ireland −8.5 v Argentina +8.5

  • Ireland win 30–20. Take 8.5 off Ireland’s score: 21.5 v 20. Ireland win on the handicap.
  • Ireland win 25–20. Take 8.5 off Ireland’s score: 16.5 v 20. Argentina win on the handicap, even though they lost the match.

Making your picks

  • Each weekend has six games. Pick four of them, choosing one team in each.
  • Mark one of your four picks as your Best Bet.
  • You can change your picks and your Best Bet as often as you like until picks lock.

When picks lock

All picks for the weekend lock at one time, before the first game kicks off. The exact time is shown at the top of My picks.

Once picks lock, nothing can be changed. That includes picks for games on Saturday and Sunday. Make sure you’ve picked all four and chosen your Best Bet before the lock.

Finals Weekend works the same way: six games across Friday to Sunday, all locking before Friday’s first game.

Scoring

Correct pick1 point
Correct Best Bet2 points
Wrong pick0 points

The best possible score in a weekend is 5. Getting all four picks right is a Clean Sweep.

Postponed, abandoned or cancelled games

These games are void. Any pick on a void game scores 0, including a Best Bet, and it can’t be swapped for another game. That also means no Clean Sweep that weekend.

If an official result is declared for an abandoned game, that result counts.

Results

Results go up after each game. A weekend’s points are provisional until the round is marked final. If a result is ever corrected, everyone’s points update automatically.

The Results tab shows every past round, with a ✓ or ✗ on each of your picks.

Leaderboards

There are two leaderboards:

  • This week: the current weekend only.
  • Season: the whole November competition.
